New Chick Lit Books by Melina Maria Morry
My brain is like a fast-paced catwalk: one idea coming out after the other, all looking glamorous and ready to hit the town. Or in my case, hit my keyboard. Writing new chick lit books allows me to dive into different worlds. Perhaps it’s creating relatable characters with witty banter or digging deeper into the complexities of modern relationships. (Ghosting, anyone?)
As a chick lit author, I get to explore themes like friendship, love, and self-discovery. And they’re often set against the backdrop of my favourite bustling cities: New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Toronto. The key is to blend humour with heartfelt moments, crafting a narrative that resonates with readers seeking both entertainment and insight. As trends evolve, there's a growing emphasis on diverse voices and experiences, which enriches the chick lit genre and keeps it fresher than I feel after a day at the spa.
Each story I write offers an opportunity to reflect the myriad of ways women navigate their lives, ensuring that chick lit remains both engaging and relevant. To anyone that says new chick lit books are just fluff, I wholeheartedly disagree. Sometimes we need these stories. Especially when the world can feel upside down, a lighthearted story can help you escape.
So, where do you want to go? Into a world of emotional release with Thirteen Emotions? Onto the streets of Toronto and New York City in The Manhattan Mishap? Or perhaps you’re seeking sunshine and shady behaviour like in my upcoming novel, She Looks Good, set in gorgeous, glittering Los Angeles.
My new chick lit books are meant to be read like literary potato chips. One bite—or perfectly sized chapter—at a time until you devour them cover to cover. When paired with your martini of choice, you can’t go wrong. Let’s get reading.

The Manhattan Mishap
Type: A fashion fiction novel
Status: Published
Available: Amazon and my bookstore
Margot Moss, a gregarious and witty woman, lives her life with abandon. She knows exactly what she wants and isn’t afraid to pounce after it with full-throttle ferocity. Although, she can’t quite seem to get it right.
When a coveted promotion falls through, Margot finds herself struggling to actualize her dreams and is forced to reconsider her so-called fabulous future. However, when one catwalk ends, another begins. A job in New York City comes knocking and Margot doesn’t hesitate to seize the opportunity, setting out on a wild adventure towards love, success, and self-discovery.
Unfortunately, nothing is how she imagined it—not the company, the city, or the people. Awaiting Margot is a drama-addicted boss who may or may not be out to get her, and a whirlwind of wealthy men, scams, and scandals. Caught in a cotton candy cloud of sparkling rosé, Margot determinedly navigates her (many) dilemmas with the help of her saucy friends and a healthy dose of buzz-worthy gossip.
Yet, as if that weren’t enough, Margot’s life is made even more complicated when a steamy new beau enters the picture—and even he isn’t what he seems.
Overflowing with fashion and champagne bubbles, The Manhattan Mishap is a hilarious, stylish, and heartfelt novel that oozes confidence and reminds us that leopards never truly change their spots.

Wouldn’t Be Caught Dead
All I’m going to say about this one right now is that it’s set in Manhattan in 2004. The story revolves around three best friends, Chloe, Skye, and Gina, and their glamorous yet troubled world. They drink Malibu-Absolut cocktails, obsess over Tom Ford for Gucci, and rule the concrete jungle with their spaghetti straps, claw clips, and platform sandals.
