Shopping small will always be in style. It’s sustainable, it’s chic, it’s happening. However, it’s perhaps not happening enough. Oftentimes, bigger brands with endless budgets get in our faces across social media and out in the wild. It can be easy to forget about the cute, cool, coveted brands that are doing their own thing and helping the environment and our communities. Enter: my list of Canadian-made fashion, beauty, wellness, and lifestyle businesses.

Supporting small Canadian brands is crucial. Not only for fostering local economies, but for nurturing unique cultural identities. By choosing to purchase from these businesses, you help sustain jobs, encourage entrepreneurship, and promote innovation within communities. And speaking of Canadian-made fashion: not all of the brands I’ve selected for this list are exclusively made in Canada. However, they’re all Canadian through and through. Whether the business is headquartered in one of the country’s bustling cities or the person behind-the-scenes is Canadian and based in Canada, I thought these brands were a good representation of everything my home country has to offer. Some I’ve purchased from before, and some I will be purchasing from ASAP.

I’ve bought a few things from Pradegal in the past and they still hold up in my wardrobe. I’ve also been thrift shopping countless times with the woman behind Jayelle Styles and her eye for sustainability is unparalleled. Last but not least, I have my eye on a timeless dress from Jacoba Jane—a brand that celebrates silk, made on Vancouver Island.
