In honour of my (our) one-year wedding anniversary, I’m breaking down my two Jacquemus wedding looks! We were lucky enough to have two celebrations. Of course, that meant two outfits. And as a fashion girl at heart that was very exciting. I decided on a “same, same but different” approach.

The core look both times was the La robe Saudade longue by Jacquemus. I actually had ordered a different dress, but a couple of weeks before our wedding I got an updated shipping estimate and the dress was scheduled to arrive the day after we tied the knot. Obviously that wasn’t going to work. Frantically, I was searching for something else.

And that’s when I went to SSENSE. Online, of course. (Yes, I wore off-the-rack to my wedding and I felt fierce and fabulous.) For years I’d been wanting a Jacquemus dress and this was the perfect occasion! But I had no idea what size I was. Since I was only four months postpartum, my body was doing some wild and unusual things. In the end, I ordered three sizes and tried them all on at home. The middle size fit perfectly.

Breaking Down My Two Jacquemus Wedding Looks

Look 1
Timeless chic with a hint of vintage in Toronto

For the first Jacquemus wedding look, I wanted to keep things classy and classic. The new classic. I wore pearls in my ears, slicked my hair back into a Hailey Bieber bun, and kept my makeup simple. And although I did everything myself, I have to say… I think I did a pretty damn good job. Especially considering the fact that we had four-month-old twins at home and had to do my hair & makeup during their nap time.

Something old: My grammy’s gloves

Something borrowed: A spritz of my husband’s Tom Ford cologne
Something blue: My at home post-wedding look ;)

The shoes I chose were rhinestone-studded, square toe, leopard print heels. They were surprisingly comfortable and I lasted most of the night. Shout out to the champagne for numbing the eventual pain.

As we stood at the altar and said our vows, we had a playlist going. Of what? Orchestral remixes of pop songs. Afterwards, one friend asked, “Did I hear …Baby One More Time as you said I do?!” One of mine and my husband’s favourite songs is Shallow so you know that made the cut too.

Laid-back west coast vibes in Victoria

The whole vibe of this micro-wedding was different from the first. Instead of served appies, we had a catered buffet. And instead of a studio venue, we hosted in my aunt’s backyard. Dangerously, we also had an open, serve-yourself bar. (Let’s just say: the 818 tequila didn’t last very long.) So, to match the ambiance, this wedding look was just as casual.

I was in bare feet, with my hair long down my back, black sunglasses, and for some of the time, a micro purse to hold my phone. I wore different earrings as well and kept my makeup a little simpler. The only regret I have about this look is that I didn’t wear my hair up. Oh well.

Which of these two Jacquemus wedding looks is your favourite? Not unfortunately, the dress is a size too big on me now so I’m not sure when (or if) I’ll wear it again. Unless I get it tailored.
