3 Cold Brew Variations to Keep You Focused & Ready to Write

Coffee is my go-to. Always. Well, maybe not always because I am also a big fan of iced lavender matcha. However, while a matcha to me is a nice treat, a coffee is my drink of choice when I really need to wake the fuck up. And write.

I know my author bio says I do my best writing with a “crystal coupe of champagne” which was true in the pandemic when I was childless and free to start happy hours whenever we wanted. But I’m a (cool) mom now. And that means coffee is my best friend for life. Literally. The best friend who gets me through life. Of course, work too.

We have this routine in my household: every Sunday we have cold brew. Usually with a pancake or waffle or scone or somethin’ special breakfast. We like buying the cold brew bags from Chamberlain Coffee. They’re the best and so easy to make. Then, we switch it up with brown sugar, vanilla, or just plain ol’ oat. Whatever we’re in the mood for.

Cold brew has become my secret weapon for sharpening my focus when diving into writing sessions. The smooth, rich flavors coupled with the jolt of caffeine serve as the perfect fuel to keep my mind alert and my thoughts flowing seamlessly. Sipping on a glass of cold brew coffee, I find myself immersing deeper into my writing, able to concentrate for longer stretches without the typical distractions. The gradual release of caffeine keeps me energized without the crashing effect, allowing me to maintain a steady flow in my writing process.

A cute cup of cold brew has undeniably become an essential ally in my search for productivity and creativity when I write. Here are three of my favourite variations for you to try.

3 Cold Brew Variations to Keep You Focused & Ready to Write

Chamberlain Vanilla Cold Brew with Minor Figures Barista Oat Milk

This has become my favourite kinda “plain jane” cold brew variation. Also, the Minor Figures brand of oat milk is sooo good. In one of my Instacart orders, the shopper accidentally gave me two jugs of it. Ever since then, we haven’t looked back. Or bought any other kind.

Chamberlain Cold Brew with Brown Sugar Oat Creamer & Whipped Cream

This cold brew variation is for when you need a severe pick-me-up. Trust me. As someone who doesn’t usually put any sugar or sweetener in her coffee, this one is a little bit over-the-top yet so delicious. I love the brown sugar oat creamer from Trader Joe’s.

A Classic Cold Brew with Whole Milk

Keep it simple and you can’t go wrong. I loved a classic cold brew with regular whole milk too. Some may say it’s boring but I say it’s timeless. And a chocolate croissant is the perfect complement.

Brb I’m off to make a pitcher of vanilla cold brew. Ciao for now.
